DUBAI SEENU (TELUGU)

MOVIE : DUBAI SEENU
STARRING : RAVITEJA,NAYANATARA,J D CHAKRAVARTHY,NEHA,SUNIL,BRAHMANANDAM,M S NARAYANA
MUSIC : MANI SHARMA
DIRECTOR : SRINU VYTLA
RELEASE DATE : 07-07-2007.
RATING : AVERAGE

Dubai Seenu is yet another typical Ravi Teja film. However, Sreenu Vytla has taken a lot of care and effort to make him look soft and sweet. Ravi Teja is well known as a rugged and brutally honest young man in all his films. While retaining the mannerisms of Ravi Teja to an extent, a deliberate attempt has been made by the director to soften the image of Ravi Teja for reasons best known to him.
The film has a thin story line. Dubai Seenu (Ravi Teja) is an unemployed youth who like most people of his age has this burning desire to go to Dubai and make it rich. He lands up in Mumbai along with his friends including Brahmanadam, only to be duped by a conman played by Venu Madhav. But the middlemen in Mumbai deceives Seenu. Seenu losts entire money that he brings from home. Seenu lives in Mumbai by selling Pav Baji on the streets of Mumbai.
Seenu happens to meet Madhumathi (Nayanatara) in Mumbai . Madhumathi is in Mumbai in search of her brother. Seenu expresses his love to her but she asks Seenu to come down to a Railway station when she is leaving to Hyderabad, where she wants to reply to Seenu's love.
The hero watches helplessly as his close friend and his wife are killed by the underworld don Jinnah. He follows the villain to Hyderabad and single handedly finishes off the underworld don. The climax scene is short and sweet with Ravi Teja killing Jinnah in cowboy style, much to the delight of his fans.
What the entire AP police could not accomplish, the hero manages to do it single handedly. And he is rewarded with a job in the same police department!
Ravi Teja executes his role with perfection. the role of Raviteja was hilarious in the first half and Ravi also looks handsome. The pair Nayanatara and Raviteja appears to be good. The story is scripted keeping Raviteja in mind and Ravi's role is 100% tailor made for him
Madhumathi (Nayantara) as a Radio Jockey is quite convincing, she looks ravishing throughout the film. Her beauty has been captured wonderfully in the song ‘Kanya Raasi Maguva…The picturisation of this particular song is quite beautiful. ’ She at times resembles the ravishing beauty from Bollywood, Raveena Tandon.
Sayaji Shinde as a police officer gets to play comedy in the film. He dominates the screen for most of the time.
JD Chakravarthi and Neha(dil fame) plays a surprise guest role in the film. Brahmanadam is wasted as his comic talents are not fully utilized by the director. But this is more than made up by MS Narayana in his brief cameo role as an aged hero Solomon Raj. He manages to raise quite a few laughs. His kidnap reminds on of the kidnap of Kannada Raj Kumar by sandalwood smuggler Veerappan. Raghu Babu plays a routine role.
The biggest (and welcome) surprise is the villain. In a refreshing departure from the set convention, the villain is both young and good looking. And the villain also does not seem to have any bad habits, except for slitting throats. Another surprise (much to the disappointment of the young male audience) there is no item number in the film! Unbelievable especially when the villain happens to be a big don ruling the underworld.
The reference to the recent bomb blast at Mecca Masjid in Hyderabad surprises the audience.
Sunil gets a chance to exhibit his dancing skills in the title song ‘Dubai Seenu…’Except for these two, the rest of the songs are average composed by Manisharma.
The best thing about the film is that it has no trace of vulgarity and thee are no double meaning dialogues. Except during the climax, there is also not much violence in the film. The film is a good time pass though a bit slow, particularly in the first half. The real film begins only just before the interval. One comes out of the theatre feeling that the first half of the film has been wasted.
It now remains to be seen if Ravi Teja’s fans love him in his new soft look, or would they prefer to see him in his old and rugged but flamboyant style.
The director Sreenu Vytla molded the film on the lines of his previous film Venky. The suspense element in the movie is appreciable and the entire credit goes to director for the screenplay.
Cinematography by Bharani K Dharan is good. Fights are ok.
Analysis: Finally , the film has good comedy and one can watch once. The feedback from B and C centers may be good when compare to A centre. It is a good entertainer ends with an average result.

CHANDAMAMA REVIEW

MOVIE : CHANDAMAMA
STARRING : NAVADEEP,SIVA BALAJI,KAJAL,SINDU MENON,NAGABABU
MUSIC : K M.RADHA KRISHNA
DIRECTOR : KRISHNA VAMSI
RELEASE DATE : September 6th, 2007
RATING : GOOD

Krishnavamsi comes up with another winner. The film is a beautiful story about two young boys and girls. The film, as the title suggests, is as beautiful as the full moon. Watching the movie is almost like spending a couple of hours out in the open on a full moon night. There are no fights, no vulgar or double meaning dialogues, no villains, and yet, the film keeps you completely engrossed till the end.
There are no fights, no vulgar or double meaning dialogues, no villains, and yet, the film keeps you completely engrossed till the end.

STORY :
The story is about a young girl Mahalakshmi (Kajal) and her doting father Nagababu. Nagababu is a good at heart rich landlord. She finisher her studies in the city and comes home. She has a cousin sister Rani (Sindhu Menon) who is a naughty girl. Her father fixes up a good alliance for her with Dorababu (Siva Balaji), who is the son of Ahuthi Prasad, a rich landlord. And the wedding preparations are on. The film doesn’t end her, but it actually takes off from here.

Mahalakshmi has a flashback. She was in love with Kishore (Navdeep) but comes home feeling that he has cheated her. Mahalaskhmi reveals this to her would-be, Dorababu. She is more worried about her father. She doesn’t want her father to know about this.

The rest of the story runs with twists and turns, with a liberal dose of comedy, action and sentiment. What happens to Mahalakshmi, Dorababu, Kishore and Rani forms the rest of the story.
Performance:
Nagababu comes up with a restrained performance as a loving father.
Kajal is equally good as the young daughter who loves her father very much and she is good in the emotional scenes too.
Siva Balaji’s role is tailor made for him and he has done a very good job.
Navdeep plays the typical city kid with his mannerisms and cool attitude towards life.
Sindhu Menon as the chirpy and boisterous cousin of Mahalakshmi is very convincing.

Ahuthi Prasad plays a role of a rich landlord who while away al his time playing cards and drinking. But he gets a role that has a lot of scope to perform and he excels. He shows shades of Ravugopala Rao. His role has acutely been moulded along Ravugopala Rao’s style and mannerism. Uttej gets a decent role in the movie and he plays his part to perfection. The rest of the star cast lends good support.
Music by KM Radhakrishan is very good. Al the songs are good and the picturization is also lovely.
The film has no comedy actors but the film is full of comedy. Siva Balaji, Navdeep and Ahuthi Prasad between them give a laughter riot. Particularly Navdeep’s predicament evokes a lot of laughter.
The item song with Abhinayasri has also been filmed very tastefully without any trace of vulgarity. The antakshari game in the second half, where everyone sings a song on Chandamama is a treat to watch. The comedy scene between Ahuthi Prasad and Navdeep, where they both get drunk also evokes a lot of laughter.
Krishnavamsy shows both the rural background and the urban landscape in a very convincing manner. The village backdrop with the lush green fields and innocent villagers takes one back to the good old days.
The only time Krishnavamsy went overboard was in the song – Bugga Meeda Mudhu Pettu, Chempa Paina Muddd Pettu. Both the heroes took it as a license and go about kissing the heroines at all places, which is the only slightly embarrassing scene in the entire movie.
All in all, the film is a pleasurable experience and can be enjoyed with the entire family. The film is so refreshingly good that one may be tempted to watch it a second time too.

AADAVARI MATALAKU ARDHALE VERULE REVIEW

MOVIE : AADAVARI MATALAKU AARDHALE VERULE
STARRING : VENKATESH,TRISHA,K VISHWANATH,SRIRAM,SUNIL
MUSIC : YUVAN SHANKER RAJA
DIRECTOR : SRI RAGHAVA
RELEASE DATE : April 27th,2007.
RATING : GOOD

The title appears to have been drawn out of a Pallavi of a song sung by Raja at one time. It is a story of a boy and girl falling in love and yet has to stay away from each other for she was already said to be engaged to another young man. Ganesh (Venkatesh), an unemployed bachelor for a long time lives with his father (Kota Srinivasa Rao), on the latter’s money. On his father’s insistence he attends job interviews. He falls in love with Keerthi (Trisha), an employee of a software company and he too finds a job in the same company with her help and advice. suddenly he lands up in a software company inspired by Keerthi (Trisha). He then wants to marry her and makes a bold attempt of proposing to her in their trip abroad. But she is already engaged to her bava and her marriage is due in a month. Ganesh’s father meets Keerthi and tries to convince her to get her wed to his son. But she resents both Ganesh and his father. His father dies of a heart attack. It is later revealed that Keerthi is getting married to one Vasu (Sriram), Ganesh’s close friend. Vasu takes Ganesh to their village. How Keerthi realizes her fault and loves Ganesh forms the rest of the story.

Needless to say that the movie belongs to Venkatesh who is a major draw of the film. It is Venkatesh movie all the way. His impressive performance stands by him, working out human emotions well in his performance, as good as in sentiment scenes and entertainment. The song duets and romantic scenes are set though it is established she is already set to marry some one else. However the narration and its story line smell quite familiar. Hence the presence of Venkatesh becomes the single factor to make initial head way at box office. Yet it is doubtful whether it can draw repeat audiences. The film has an uneven structure with the first half fully packed with humor. Even here Venkatesh scores. But the trouble lies with the treatment of the subject in second half of the drama. It simply drags. Being a Tamil film and treated by Tamil director, the film oozes some novelty in humor part and sentiment.

Kota Srinivasa Rao’s is an unusual role and his talent is wasted more on sentiment. The saving grace is the musical part carried on by Ilaya Raja’s son Yuvan Raja. One way the film can be said a musical. Venkatesh effortlessly carries on, playing Ganesh sans any hurdles.

Trisha indeed plays well, carrying the audience with her familiar good looks. And the get up given to her as the modern young girl of a software company suited her. She looks confident and convincing. Sriram of ‘Rojapoolu’ fame, a Telugu boy basically, gets a typical role to suit his histrionic tenor. Kota lives up to expecations.

Swathi too bears impressive looks of a teenager. In another character role K Vishwanath looks typed. Balamurugan’s camera work is worth a mention. So is Kola Baskar’s editing, that added some velocity to the film.

Sunil’s comedy part is on separate track. Dialogue part has ups and downs, keeping to the emotional track better. ‘Allantha Dooraniki’ is a haunting melody. The film appears to have taken good money for its making, and to render it visually rich. However it lacks some clarity that a climax really deserves to send the audience ot of the theatre with memories of the film
